Well, we rolled into Bakersfield about 6pm on Thursday
night and got ourselves parked along side the other car and did a little chit
chatting and then jumped into Brett's pickup and away we go; or so we thought.
Just outside of the Famoso driveway we realized that we didn't have Frank's
wallet so we make a quick turnaround. We search the pits, Dale even turned the
trash cans upside down in a determined search, it was no where to be found.
I remembered seeing it on the
fender of Brett's truck!; I remembered earlier but I was hoping I was wrong.
Frank was sure that he would have seen it but we
realized that the car pass would have blocked his view to where the wallet had
been sitting...I think that is where it was sitting. Well we drove
back out the entrance at about the same point that we turned around pitch
black, Frank and I can't see a thing and Jordan hollers,"there it is", exitedly
pointing like a Setter. Frank and I looked exactly where he was pointing and
we couldn't see a thing he retorts with "the red spot, right there" Argh!!!! So
Frank pulls around to put the headlights on it and there it was. Boy do I feel old
(I still don't know how Jordan was able to see that little
red dot in the dark).
Well! Sure enough, it was right there, the wallet and all
of it's contents. . .strewn all over the highway.
It apparently flew off the hood when we made our quick turn around to
go back to the pits to find it. Who knew!
We accounted for most of the contents that night but
it was dark so the next day we stationed Jordan at the gate and he found the rest
of it.
The place was packed!
Round One
Qualifications!
Both cars qualified
"Round Two Qualifications"
"Round One of Eliminations!"
Sean and Harris are up and Harris has some
stearing problems and wound up against the wall and handed the win to Sean.
Dunlap got nervous against Mendy and beat himself, handing first round to Mendy.
Both cars made it into the dance on Sunday.
"Round Two of Eliminations!"
Ouch! We beat ourselves on this one, we did not
have a new set of tires on the car and they just gave up at 9:20 Sunday
morning.
"Round Three of Eliminations!"
Sean got to the 3rd round and had a little
trouble in the pits with the oil pump pooping out, but luckily another
one appeared from the crowd just in time. But the tires wound up giving us
fits this time around as well.
